Sub-committee reports

Site Plan

The Sub-committee will meet Friday, Sept. 14 with Frank Wanko from Hobbs Upchurch Engineering.  Mr. Wanko will prepare an updated drawing for presentation at next Thursday’s meeting.  An electronic version will also be made available for the McLendon Hills Website.  Drawings will be available at the social event, Sept. 22, and the Recreation Area will be staked to further illustrate the plan.  Allowance for future expansion is included in the proposed plan.

Walking/Jogging Path

After several field trips and online research, the Sub-committee listed the following considerations and positions.

v     A surface with defined edges will be more esthetically pleasing in the residential area

v     Two or more “sites of interest” for benches, refuse containers will enhance the usage of the path

v     At least a portion of the trail should be ADA compliant.

v     Lights will not be considered in the residential portion of the path

v     Motorized vehicles, wheelchairs excepted, will not be allowed.

v     Adult cycling will be discouraged

v     A width of 5 feet is the minimum, 6 feet would be preferable

v     Some type of railing may be appropriate at the dam

Clubhouse

Several photos of Clubhouses were presented. The Committee had an open discussion on their individual hopes and wishes for the clubhouse. The committee took these recommendations and plans to report further at the next meeting.  Alternative energy sources are also being explored.

Pool

Due to family illness, the Pool Sub-committee had not had an opportunity to meet.

Financial Considerations

In discussing the financial considerations in planning the amenities, it was pointed out that current HOA fees are really just covering basic maintenance cost of the community, not considering any amenities.  This is an area that will need considerable coordination with the Finance Committee.  For planning purposes, the Amenities Committee adopted a procedure to develop two proposals for each amenity: a basic proposal with only necessities, and a modified proposal including upgrades and refinements.

Next meeting, September 20, 2007.
